Is a folding poker table the best of both worlds?

Fold up poker tables offer the best of both worlds - the look and feel of a proper poker table, but with the convenience of a table which can be folded up and easily stored away when not in use.

The other big advantage of a foldup poker table is that since they pack up small they are easy to transport. Many come with a carrying bag, so you can easily share one poker table between several friends and it doesn't matter whose house you are playing in this week, the table can easily be taken along. That means that the investment in the table can be easily spread between several friends keeping the cost down.

While fold up poker tables differ in both build quality and features, if you shop around you should find one to suit your needs and budget. Look for a decent quality table with a good cloth if you can afford it - it will last much longer than a cheap felt covered table.

A good table will have solid legs with a locking mechanism to prevent them collapsing, a padded rail and possibly even cup holders - some have chip holders too.

If you're investing in a decent quality poker table, please do yourself a favour and get some decent, casino quality chips and cards to go with it! Cheap plastic chips just don't feel right, and properly weighted clay poker chips are very reasonably priced these days, so with a fresh pack of bicycle cards, your clay chips, and your new fold up poker table you'll be all set to fold'em and hold'em!
